Hello Everyone!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of my patients and the team at Kell Dental Arts. The time has come for me to start a new journey in my life! I have decided to move back to my hometown of Marshfield, WI where I will be getting married in September, 2010. My time at Kell Dental Arts has truly been an incredibly enjoyable experience! I have gotten to know many of you very well and I will miss each and every one of you! Thank you for trusting and respecting me as your health care provider. You will be in great hands with our new hygienist, Lindsay!
Thank you again and Keep Smiling!

In our continuing quest for increasing dental knowledge throughout Hudson, Dr Kell, his hygienist Ashley, and his assistant Denise went to North Hudson Elementary school to talk about dental health to all three third grade classes. They talked about good and bad foods and what those do to your teeth. Brushing and flossing was discussed (most of the first graders were very active in those topics), and then 6 volunteers were chosen to be teeth in a line. These “teeth ‘ were then flossed with jump rope.
We also discussed what each of our jobs involved , including our uniforms and basic insturments. The children were very knowledgable about germs and decay and had many questions.
The same presentation was done for the Learning Circle children, except that they came to our office from across the parking lot. We saw 4 separate classes from ages 2 to 5 over two days. A few of these children experienced their very first dental appointment during the session, as they were the volunteer to ride in the chair and let the dentist count their teeth.
The team at Kell Dental Arts has done this teaching approach for 13 years at multiple schools and day cares, in an attempt to make sure the youth of Hudson are understanding dental health.

Kell Dental Arts would like to announce an awesome addition to our communication with our patients. We have added SmileReminders to increase the opportunities for interactive communication between patients and our office. We are now able to send appointment reminders through text messages or emails, which can be responded to without picking up a phone to call. We have discovered that many people feel text and email is more convenient for their busy lives. Of course our phones still work and are available for those who prefer the phone.
We are also going to be sending out E-newsletters to keep patients aware of current treatment options, health updates, and upcoming events. Our hope is that we can help simplify the lives around us by sharing information and using tools that are more convenient to those lives. It will also give everyone the opportunity to give us valuable feedback so we may keep striving to meet your needs.
Patients will also be able to check their accounts and make payments automatically with this program. As an additional feature, patients will also be able to use this program to send themselves reminders of appointments from their own calendars. We have no access to their non-dental information, so it is entirely private and can be found through the smile-reminder website.
We are looking forward to your continued feedback regarding the SmileReminder features. Make sure you stop by the office to fill out a card with your email and cell phone numbers. These are all entered into a national contest for a tropical vacation to Jamaica to be awarded in Nov 2010.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of my wonderful patients: past , present, and future. Amber, Ashley, Denise, and I have had a fun year helping all of you achieve the dental health and smiles that you desire. It is our goal to change peoples’ lives, one smile at a time and we thank all of you for your interest and support through the year.
Our Holiday Party for our patients was a success. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres were consumed and enjoyed by everyone. Dr Kell did many photo portrait sessions for many families and has been informed that those portraits are being used for Christmas cards and gifts.
We are looking forward to many new things in 2010 and will keep you posted for upcoming events.

Kell Hosts International Study Group
Dr David Kell of Kell Dental Arts recently hosted an advanced dental study group at his office in November. This group, known as the Parrothead Study Group, has met at our office twice a year since 2005 and consists of dentists from England, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Dr Kell’s orthodontist and lab technician are also in the group. The group studies the complex way that bites fit together and function within the TMJ system. Muscle pain, headaches, and broken teeth can be the results of an unbalanced or uncontrolled bite.
Specialized therapies allow patients to feel pain relief, allowing them the ability to prevent breaking teeth and crowns in their future. One of the most powerful treatment options starts with an anatomical bitesplint to deprogram the jaw muscles and begin relief of overworked, stressed facial muscles. Once health has been established then the teeth may be reshaped and the overall bite balanced for comfort and proper function.
These doctors are constantly studying the technical riddles that make up our bites. They believe that function and balance need to be correctly defined prior to restorative options. This will make more stablility and longevity on a person’s teeth and crowns, as well as minimize pain and fractures that come with unbalanced bites.
The course was taught by Dr Rich Green from Florida. Dr Green has been teaching dentists for 30 years the complexities of controlling peoples’ bite patterns, along with speaking throughout the United States.
This group convenes two times each year at Kell Dental Arts to continue their learning and explore more treatment options to benefit their patients.

Dentist Studies Implants
Hudson, WI – September 16, 2009—— With the continuous desire to give all of his patients the best in dental health care, Dr. David Kell from Kell Family Dental was chosen by an elite group of professionals to be part of a unique training course for dental implants at DENTSPLY’s manufacturing complex in Frankfurt Germany. This program was hosted by several of the world’s most prestigious practitioners and Master Dental Technicians from the University of Frankfurt. The course consisted of seminars and hands-on workshops for those dentists and surgeons chosen to attend.
Dr Kell attended with his oral surgeon, Dr Luke Macminimen, and his lab technician, Karl Schwartz.
The focus was on placing and restoring Ankylos dental implants, one of the newest innovative dental implant systems out in dentistry. This system focuses on preserving more natural bone levels and allowing dental restorations to appear more natural and life-like. He is now excited more then ever to introduce what is available and what he can provide to any patients who require such procedures.
